County Road Permits & Fees

N O T I C E
COUNTY ROAD PERMITS AND FEES

TO: All persons, partnerships, associations, corporations or governmental entities who are constructing, operating, maintaining, removing facilities, or performing any work within county road right-of-way, except sidewalk installation or repair.

At it's regular monthly meeting on May 20, 1996, the Houghton County Board of Road Commissioners adopted the enclosed permit policy and fee schedule for all work within county road right-of-way.

The fee, as authorized by MCL 224.19b, will take effect for all permits applied for, on or after July 1, 1996.

If you have any questions, please call the Houghton County Road Commission office in Ripley at 906.482.3600.

Permit Applications & Additional Information

Beginning August 7, 2023, transportation permit applicants will be able to apply for permits using the Oxcart Permitting System. Go here to access the permitting system. If you should have any questions regarding your permit, please call the Road Commission Office at 906-482-3600.
