*On any legal combination of vehicles, only one (1) tandem axle shall be permitted at the gross weight of 16,000lbs. Per axle and no other tandem axle assembly in such combination of vehicles shall exceed a gross weight of 13,000lbs. per axle. When the gross weight of a combination of vehicles with load, does not exceed 73,280lbs. Two (2) tandem axle assemblies shall be permitted at a gross weight of 16,000lbs. per axle.

**On any legal combination of vehicles, only one (1) tandem axle assembly shall be permitted at the gross weight of 10,400lbs. per axle and no other tandem axle assembly in such combination of vehicles shall exceed a gross weight of 8,450lbs. per axle. When the gross weight of a combination of vehicles with load does not exceed 73,280lbs. two (2) tandem axle assemblies shall be permitted at a gross weight of 10,400lbs. per axle.

NOTES:

  1. The weight limitations listed above are the general policy of the Houghton County Road Commission, however, because of the great variation of surface types and underlying soils, certain roads may be limited to a greater degree or for longer periods of time in the spring of the year.
  2. The Houghton County Road Commission also reserves the right to limit heavy hauling of any type and/or to require a bond to be posted at any time of the year, if road surfaces may be damaged by any such activity.
  3. All over weight and over size hauling on a county road requires a permit obtainable at the Houghton County Road Commission Office in Ripley, Michigan.
